Scott Lee, R.N., L. Ac., master of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, will donate 100 percent of the cost of acupuncture treatments for Big Island residents to International Medical Relief (IMR).

IMR is a nonprofit medical relief organization based near Denver, which provides medical, dental and surgical care to under-served communities around the world. Lee was invited by IMR in June to practice acupuncture during a recent medical mission trip to a group of villages outside of Delhi, India. He and the IMR team provided medical service to 2,500 patients during a one-week period.

Lee hopes to treat enough patients in Hilo over the next few months so that he can participate in the group’s medical mission trip to Cambodia in December. Lee has held a successful private practice in Hilo for more than 20 years. He will provide acupuncture treatments at a reduced rate of $50 per session. Coupons are available for purchase in any amount and are good for one year, and are transferable.

According to the National Institute of Health and the World Health Organization, acupuncture promotes wellness and can assist in the healing of at least 43 common disorders, including gastrointestinal disorders, circulatory disorders and addictions to alcohol, nicotine and drugs, to name a few.

“Your treatments not only contribute to your good health, but are also tax-deductible, and ultimately, will contribute to the good health of others,” said Lee. Call 557-0907 for appointments.
